Italian Father Christmas

Accompanied by two loyal friends, his reindeer and Befana, the ITALIAN FATHER CHRISTMAS brings gifts to children on January 6th, the feast of the Epiphany, which is believed to be the date when the three kings visited the Christ Child. In Italian folklore, the Befana is an old woman who delivers gifts to children throughout Italy on the eve of Epiphany.

Many Italian Christmas Eves are complete with a trip to church. This could be midnight mass, a pre-dinner service, or an evening prayer. The Feast of the Seven Fishes is part of many family’s traditions. The event centers around the idea of serving seven different kinds of fish for dinner.

Father Christmas will also make an appearance on Christmas Eve with a few select gifts.
