The American Santa is a symbol of our one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all. Celebrating our culture, history, and patriotism, he is proud to dress in the colors of our flag and brings toys to children that symbolize our country’s strength and democracy. The drum played a crucial role with the military throughout history. Soldiers marched to battle to the sound of the drums and were also used to raise morale during the fight. The brass horn summoned soldiers to stand-to for morning roll call and accompanied the hoisting of the American flag.

Today an American tradition is found at our nations’ capital. First there is the lighting ceremony of the National Christmas Tree, customarily attended by the President and family and accompanied by musical performances. Washington DC at Christmas time is beautiful. Every corner is more festive than the next.
